Our Figaholics channel is used to help share information on propagation and cultural care of figs as well as share information on fig varieties we grow on our farm. We grow other crops on our farm as well as some hobby plants and we may talk about those from time to time.
Fig cuttings are offered for sale on our web site at www.figaholics.com/cuttings.htm around January of each year until we sell out. We have discontinued propagating trees for sale because of the extra work it creates in both care and shipping. We post frequently on our Facebook page at Figaholics where we post upcoming auctions or status of our annual cutting sale.
We're sorry, but we do not maintain a waiting or mailing list.
Our channel is primarily intended to be educational and not to promote any particular business. If you wish to use our videos, we welcome you to do so but ask that you make it clear that the fruits shown are not your own but grown on our California farm.

"Sarı Lop" is really the most delicious one😋
What was the most delicious fig you have ever eaten?
I currently have 247 "different" varieties of figs and I bet at least half of them are the same fig. 🤨
We currently have 400 varieties and I roughly guess about 15 are the same and would be very surprised that your bet is accurate. Researchers are in the process of sequencing the DNA of thousands of figs and we'll eventually know much more in a few years.
Oh wow That’s very amazing white Sapote trees 🤩, big 👍 My favourite fruit. My trees just starting fruits 😁
How would you rate the Mcdill variety? Thanks!
What’s that background noise? to scare birds?
Thank you for sharing...good to know that you feel this is not Violette de Sollies or Bourjasotte Noire.
But how did it ripe in your garden without caprifigation??
What are some types that have a high sweetness level?
Can anyone tell a difference between White Madeira #1 vs White Madeira vs Black Madeira & KK
Super! 👍
Hello sir, do you ship to the Philippinrs?
No, U.S. only
It looks like to me thatbis brown turkey variéty because these figs are Big. Black mission is smaller than that.
This is Black Mission. We've grown Brown Turkey previously (but no longer grow it). Its skin is lighter color (thus the word brown in its name) and has a lighter colored pulp. Brown Turkey fruits are also larger than these, on average.
Hoping I can get a cutting of this variety this year.
Any idea where I can get some cuttings?
Around January each year we have a cuttings sale at www.figaholics.com/cuttings.htm
How does it grow with the seeds ?
They grow fine but the fruits produced from seedlings usually are different than the parent tree.
@@Figaholics hello 👋 oh ok thank you 😊
i have this fig
Sir ! Kindly tell me, is this another name mission fig ?
No, this variety is earlier and fruits are smaller than Black Mission
Gracias
Can I have 2 cuttings of this fig please
Check back at our annual cuttings sale around January at www.figaholics.com/cuttings.htm
No fruits ever become edible for me. May be a smyrna?
All reports I've seen indicate this is a common type fig
Didn’t even know this was a fig and I got 5 different figs 😂 funny part is I live in riverside we’re this fig is from so now I must buy it
What do you do about birds eating your figs …..thank you for your wonderful videos.
We use three systems to help limit damage. We also previously tried organza bags but our birds pecked right through those easily. Here are videos on two systems: ua-cam.com/video/NSSglyrJp4I/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/mJNS_IvOS24/v-deo.html Additionally, we later installed an expensive automated green laser light system to help scare away birds.
Thank you so much for your explanation
Incredible
Thank you, do you know if the deer eat the leaves?
Sorry, I have no experience or information on that.
Cant wait i got a cutting i just TP in a 5 gallon
is this best figs?
I have not picked a favorite fig but this is one of my favorites, both for taste and sentimental reasons.
Thank you
is this best fig reast?
Fun!
@Figaholics Great system, good inspiration, i am thinking to do the same but with a Flood and Drain with a reservoir.
Mr. Harvey, do you add any compost or mulch around your trees ? I do, and think it helps reduce splitting during our many summer showers in central Louisiana. How many trees do you care for ? I've got 200 Fig Trees , 50+ varieties in Zone 9-a. Planted my orchard 2 springs ago. Thank you so much for your informative videos. One day when you are not busy, you should write a book to help identify the most common varieties , Ha, ha !
Sorry for the slow reply. I do not add compost, it would be a lot of work on two acres and our soil already naturally has a high organic matter content since much of this was previously swampland.
I love figs with stories behind them makes them exciting A friend who works as head gardener in one of the royal palaces of the late king of jordan Hussain father of current king gave me a cutting of a very rare type that preduces main crop that weighs from 200 to 210 grams per fig
I have what I believe is Ischia Black fig growing in my yard. The tree is very healthy with dark green leaves but has only grown 1ft in 2-3 years. It has the reddish petioles like your tree. The immature fruit on my tree are a much darker purple though. The immature fruit on your tree are almost entirely green. Does that mean one of us doesn't have the real Ischia Black fig or is there another explanation for the difference in color of the immature fruit?
Out of 400 varieties I grow, besides my striped varieties, I can't think of any that don't start out as green fruits.
@@Figaholics Interesting. Maybe it has to do with climate? I am looking at a few immature breba figs on all three of my fig trees (different varieties). They are all purple. Maybe the cooler weather in the spring is causing a different color on the immature figs? I do remember at least one of the trees having immature green figs during the main crop.
@@econ0003 My breba are not turning color yet, still green here in northern California.
great review, thank you
Does this fig variety require a fig wasp?
No, it is a common fig and is grown in areas without the wasp.
@@Figaholics oh ok that is good to hear.
top 10 best figs teast?
Harvey , would love an update on your NS del Carmen! Always enjoy your thoughts.
Great review thanks, Harvey
You are a perfect embodiment for what is wrong with farming today. All take and no give. 3rd generation farmer who inherited his land and threatens to quit because of regulations. What a joke. You should be regulated tighter. You directly contribute to agricultural practices that have decimated California waterways. Many rivers have been altered, flow severely diminished and in some cases straight up disappeared. You have the blessing of water rights. What do you do with this precious blessing? You go on the internet and complain about regulations! You should be making your farm more sustainable and more drought tolerant. You should be putting in ponds for water storage, planting natives etc etc. Instead your soil looks like a parking lot. Instead of managing your farm holistically and ecologically, you choose to do nothing but maximize efficiency and profit. You boomer farmers will keep this up until there is no water and we all know what will happen then. You'll blame the government.
You sjow rohht views
it is actually zhe not che not qi
I mention that name in my newer video at ua-cam.com/video/mjgXfVKJEnQ/v-deo.htmlsi=MpoeL5Ab8z6XZJNd but nobody that I know of that grows this fruit in the U.S. uses the "zhe" name. crfg.org/homepage/library/fruitfacts/che/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maclura_tricuspidata Do you grow this fruit? Where are you located? My friends in China are not familiar with this fruit and it does not appear to be widely cultivated.
@@Figaholics I am from shandong province. we do have it. but it is not cultured widely. and it is not known for its fruit but for its wood.
Is it gota de miel?
No, it is different.
@tinyjungle_ You should not teach some dude how to behave!!! Not AI!!!!
@daniello9697 @tinyjungle_ Peace brothers. There are many things in life to celebrate, let's not squabble over small insignificant matters. I've tried to avoid fights for over 50 years but in my youth got into a few fights. Too old for that and maybe learn a little from this old guy.
@@Figaholics ☮☮Thanks!
Would you sell a few cuttings?
Our cutting sale finished in early March.
I do not know, our climate is warm and has low humidity.
is Excel and Yellow Excel the same fig?
I have never heard of a variety called Yellow Excel, sorry
How to fig from spider sir
Harvey, is this your favorite honey fig, and are the leave stems a creamy yellow color? Thanks
I think maybe Golden Riverside (UCR 178-28) may be my favorite honey type. But I may be wrong, that is just what comes to mind at this moment.
Keeper or nah?
When I did the video in October 2019 it was the first time I experienced my tree having both ripe fruit and new flowers. I have had as many as three crops in one year.
